Sadness and Computer Issues

Happy Easter!

This weekend has been rather annoying as I had to do a complete wipe of my hard drive and my dh's hard drive, then reinstall windows xp and all the programs I use such as Quicken, MS Office, messengers and more. Not much fun. This kept me from doing much stitching the last couple of days which has really annoyed me as I have some projects that are on deadlines. I have a quilt square for love quilts and the little rosebud ornaments (the same design as the sachet bag Curtis and I did just with different colors) for a friend of mine. I am behind and I don't like it. Oh well, I will just have to make sure I stitch tomorrow as much as I can.

I am saddened today as well. About a year ago I found the website Love Quilts and tried to sign up to do a square for a little boy named Christian. I couldn't do the square as his quilt was already full but I did read the history for Christian. He was so very cute, and fought so very hard against the cancer he had. I had not read his blog in a little while so I read it tonight to catch up and when I got to the entry written today I started to cry. Christian passed away at 3:30 this afternoon. I can only imagine the pain his family must be feeling. I am a little bit surprised at my response as I do not know Christian and his family in real life, but from reading his blog I feel that I know them a little bit. I said many prayers for Christian in the past year and reading the news of his passing hurts. I know the pain and sadness I feel is nothing compared to what his family and loved ones must be feeling. I do hope that Christian is now healthy and happy in heaven and that he is resting in peace.

There is another child, Dae Hon, who is not doing very well. His mother has posted on his page that he loves Panda Bears and has requested "Anything at all with a Panda on them. He is really going to need something to bring a smile to his face." So I went to patterns online and bought two panda bear patterns one from EMS and one from Ruth Morehead. I will stitch one of them and make a pillow out of it to send to him. It will be something he can cuddle, squish, and hug. I do hope that he likes it and it puts a smile on his face. I will probably do "The Panda" by Ruth Morehead as it will be a quicker stitch than the EMS Baby Panda. If the Baby Panda is anything like the Raccoon Baby that I did, it is more complicated than it appears at first glance and I want to finish this quickly so I can get it in the mail, thus I will do the easier chart.

Well that is it for now. I will write again soon!

My Wish List (edited Feb 26, 2010)

People have been asking me to post my wish list. I have been hesitant to do so as I don't want people thinking they have to get me something off the list or anything like that. But it was explained to me that wish lists help people get a better idea of what a person likes or does not like for exchange purposes. So I made one and here it is.

What's in your name?

I saw this on Blogthings, which a friend sent me to. I thought it was kind of funny so went ahead and did it and am posting it. Some of this is quite accurate for me, and some is not. You can find this at blogthings.

What Mich***** Means:

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.

You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.

You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.

You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.

A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.

You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.

Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

YAY it finally arrived!

The peice I sent to sonictomb finally arrived. Took it a month! I swear the postal service is nowhere near as good as it thinks it is. She really liked it and I feel much better now that she got it! I hope she enjoyed participating in the exchange even if the postal service messed up.

Updates and SBQ

Here is the SBQ for Feb. 26th. I'm a bit late in answering it.

This week's SBQ was suggested by Rachel and is: What is your cross stitch weakness? (i.e., What do you have to have when you see it, even if you are supposed to be on the Wagon?)

For me it depends on the designs. I like many varied things so I can't say there is one specific kind of design that I must have when or if I see it. Though I can say that I am not all that fond of stitching a lot of flowers unless they are part of an overall picture as in many Paula Vaughn designs. Thinking about it though I would say that blackwork is probably the closest "weakness" as far as patterns I *have* to have but even then it is not every blackwork pattern I see.

Things have been real busy around here with the baby and all. I am going to start stitching the seasonal exchange piece for Sonya over again because she has not received it yet. The post office told me 8 to 10 days, and it has been 3 weeks now. I am NOT happy that it did not get to her. When I send it this time I will be sending it priority mail so that I can actually track it and I will make sure they put a customs declaration sticker on the package. I am hoping that the other members of the board do not think that I did not send the package. This was only my second exchange. My first was the Christmas Ornament and I sent it a week late. This one was mailed on Feb. 14th, one day late and has not arrived. I do have the receipt that shows I mailed a package to the UK so I could provide it if anyone asks. I just feel so bad. This was Sonya's first exchange and she did not get the peice I stitched. That is just so unfair! I am hoping to have it re-stitched by the end of this week or Monday (the 10th) at the latest and get it into the mail.

I am still working on the Love Quilt square and the rosebuds I promised a friend I would stitch and make into small sachets as prizes in a contest that she is running.

A friend on the Cross Stitch Crazy posting board posted that her husband passed away. I cried when I read it. Henny is such a wonderful person! She was friendly, warm, and welcoming when I first joined the board. She sent me a beautiful Christmas Card as well. Reading her posts and her blog have shown how devoted she was to her husband and how much she loved him. Very inspirational for me to read. I am so very sorry that Ken (her husband) passed away and I wish there was something more I could do for Henny besides keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I really hope she is okay.
